Great Ontario Bike Roads

January_2007_159

Also good for motoring.

It’s too darn cold to ride, has been for a while, for sane people. So once again one’s attention turns to finding new a fascintating places to go. I realized that, while I know of a few cool places to go on motoricycle on by MINI, there are some places I have learned about over the years that are worth sharing.

If you are looking for good roads, check the Great Ontario Bike Roads it has a list and ratings for some not so secret roads in the province. I have ridden many of the closer ones, and drove several others.

I wouldn’t bother with the Forks of the Credit, but that’s a personal thing.

My favourite close one is Lakeshore Road between Newcastle and Port Hope. Great of you are in the eastern GTA. Sorry, no Chip Stands.

If you want a map, it’s currently hosted here by a fellow called Shane Kingsley.

Most of the interesting roads are secondary roads, so they may be snowy. But pick a nice sunny day.

Make sure your snow tires have treads and go motoring.

In the summer, watch out for motorcycles, one of them might be me.
